GLOBALIZATION

Globalization is the word used to describe the growing interdependence of the world’s economies, cultures, and populations, brought about by cross-border trade in goods and services, technology, and flows of investment, people, and information. Countries have built economic partnerships to facilitate these movements over many centuries. But the term gained popularity after the Cold War in the early 1990s, as these cooperative arrangements shaped modern everyday life.

GLOBALIZATION IN THE PHILIPPINES

What made Philippines as globalized country?

Economic Globalization is something that has been with the human race ever since the world begun. From local to global, we could attribute this to the result of human innovation and technological progress.

Globalization in the Philippines has been very effective. There have been major changes in the economy since 1995. When Philippines took part in signing agreements with world trade organization. Trade is the exchange of goods and services between nations. Here in the Philippines we import and export in the other countries such as electronic products, mineral fuels, transport equipments and etc. Immigration is also part of the globalization here in the Philippines. Philippines is also becoming a labor explorer. The Philippines ascent as a major labor exporter in Asia and worldwide is based on various factors. Filipino also settles in countries that are not traditional countries of immigration, such as Germany and Japan. Globalization has created a new reality for OFW’s there has been a feminization of Philippine migration and OFW’s place on the welfare and well- being of their families, labels are of little significance to them. Many of the Filipinos also loves to travel. They travel around the world in different countries such as Korea, Japan, Singapore and etc. In terms of communication we also communicate in other countries specially to our loved ones, relatives and friends who are in the other countries. We also communicate with the people in other countries and make friends and because of social media nowadays there are Filipinos married to foreigners. In terms of movies and entertainments we Filipinos watch movies from the other countries such as K-dramas and Thai movies. Another reason why Philippines is also a globalized country is because of culture adaption. Through watching of different movies in other countries we adapt the culture of other countries for example is when we are singing K-Pop songs. Knowledge is also part of globalization here in the Philippines because through knowledge has always spread from country to country with word of mouth and written texts. This occurs almost instantly now due to the internet. Through the internet today we get knowledge on what is happening in the world . For example, in this time of pandemic we are able to reach information from the other countries such as how many cases of covid in china, japan and etc. Philippines is also parts of the Asian games. Those are just some of the reasons why Philippines is also a globalized country.

Thus, Philippines is considered as a globalized country because of the innovations and progress that has been made throughout the entire year of its existence that created a big impact and opportunies to the life of every Filipinos.
